The Estimator prepares accurate, complete and competitive cost estimates and proposals for laboratory casework and related equipment on institutional, healthcare, research and industrial projects. The role interprets tender documents, develops detailed quantity takeoffs and establishes the full cost of supplying and installing laboratory furniture systems.

Working with sales, manufacturers, suppliers and project management, the Estimator defines scope, identifies commercial and technical risks, and recommends cost-effective alternatives that preserve the required laboratory function and specified performance.

• Takeoffs & Scoping: Review architectural/engineering drawings and specifications (Divisions 11 & 12) to produce precise quantity takeoffs for casework, countertops, adaptable benches, and fume hoods.
• Pricing & Procurement: Solicit and evaluate vendor/subcontractor quotes; calculate labour, freight, site constraints, and markups; issue RFIs to clarify scope gaps.
• Bidding & Proposals: Draft qualified bid proposals with clear inclusions/exclusions, lead times, and value-engineering options to meet firm deadlines.
• Handover & Tracking: Transition awarded projects to project management, price scope changes, and review actual job costs against estimates.

• Experience:  5+ years of estimating or similar in Lab Casework, architectural millwork, or specialty equipment.
• Skills: Blueprint reading, digital takeoffs, advanced Excel, and bid qualification writing.
• Tools: Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, and construction ERP/estimating software.
• Education: Background in Architectural Technology, Construction Management, or relevant industry experience.
